Push The Rock is excited about the missions opportunities that God has opened up around the world for sports ministry and we are honored to be a part of that. However, we cannot do it alone. We need men and women who want to use their God-given athletic gifts and abilities to impact others for eternity.
God has called Push The Rock to partner with local churches around the world to use sports to draw kids and their families to Him. Has He called you to do the same? Please pray about and consider getting involved.
We run multiple short-term trips each year in a variety of sports to locations all over the world. See how you can join one of those teams.
We are also offering internships at each of these locations where you can go and spend a few months, a semester, or even a year to experience sports ministry overseas. It would be a tremendous encouragement in any one of these locations for you to invest a period of time with them. It would probably also challenge, grow and encourage you! Consider doing an internship with us in any one of these locations.
Having full-time sports ministry people overseas is still a very high priority for us. We are thrilled to be partnering with different organizations, including TEAM and BIC, and look forward to what the Lord might have in store for us as we plant churches and further God’s Kingdom together. There are multiple locations throughout the world that are interested in having a Push The Rock person serving with them full-time. What is holding us back? People. If this interests you, please contact us immediately. We have a place for you!
The following are locations where Push The Rock has ongoing ministry and where we would like to send additional sport-ministry personnel full time:
(1) Costa Rica: It is hard to imagine a better partnership than the one we have with churches and Christian organizations in Costa Rica. Together we have ongoing ministry in prisons, detention centers, schools, foster homes and rural communities. San Jose has everything you would expect a capital city have, including pockets of extreme poverty and duress. Los Chiles in the northern part of the country is a largely neglected area with plenty of needs. Push The Rock is committed to the weekly programs that are exploding in each place as we look to impact lives for eternity. In addition to ministry in Costa Rica, it is a longer term goal to serve other countries in Central America through the ministry in Costa Rica. Our Costa Rica office is currently being run by Natalie Gomez, a San Jose native, born and raised. She has a fantastic group of volunteers but could use more full-time help as programs continue to grow in number and depth.
(2) Czech Republic: Involved in short-term ministry there since 2009, Push The Rock will be opening up it office in Prague in 2013. Baseball and basketball will be the focal points of the ministry, but it is our desire to use all different kinds of sports to reach the Czech people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Push The Rock will be based in the Libus section of Prague but ministry will happen throughout the city and surrounding areas.
(3) Italy: Push The Rock has been sending teams to Italy since 2007. The Lord continues to open doors for sports ministry, mainly through basketball. Invited by churches in the Venice and Bologna areas, we are looking to open an office in 2013, based out of the Venice region. One of the main focal points will be starting a Christian basketball club that will “rival” others clubs in the area. Daily sports programs in schools and after school programs through the church will complement the club in a great way. Ministry will start in Venice and Bologna and will grow as the Lord takes it from there.
(4) Zambia: This office will open in 2013 and will be located in Macha. Ravaged by AIDS and malaria, this region is home to countless kids who have been impacted by these two deadly diseases one way or another. Sports are one of the greatest outlets for these kids. Soccer is most definitely king in this country, but we will use any and every sport to share about the importance of being a part of God’s family.
