Italy (07.06.07): Update #7
Bounjorno!
Greetings from Mestre! We have been having a great time with the kids at camp and
playing some games against the local teams at night. The Lord is working here in this city
and we are honored to have the opportunity to be used by God.
Wednesday night both the guys and girls had separate opportunities to play games. The
guys played a group of local players at the park. The girls were participating in a 3v3
tourney. Both turned out as great opportunities to share the love of Christ. The girls
encountered a friendly group of women and had the opportunity to get to know them on a
personal level. The guys won the game by 20 points, but the greater victory was
fellowshipping with the other team after the game. We exchanged e-mails and memories
that will last for a lifetime.
Thursday morning the gospel was presented to the camp by Coach Chris. A few kids
raised their hands to accept the Lord as their personal Savior but only the Lord truly
knows their hearts. There were also parents watching and listening during the
presentation. They all seemed to be very interested in what was being said. We are
looking forward to hearing how the church follows up with the kids.
Thursday night the guys played a game against a team consisting of some pro players. It
was a hard fought game that came down to the last shot. We were victorious by 1 point,
but more importantly we had the chance to share testimonies and interact with the players
after the game. The night can be summed up with a statement made by the captain of our
opponents, "we do not mix God and sports here so we really enjoyed this."
Friday morning we finished up our last day of camp. We are now headed to the closing program.
Thanks for praying with us as we finish strong. Praise the Lord for his faithfulness and
many blessings!
